Job description

 

  • Innovate a comprehensive strategy to register local farmers as suppliers to the company.
  • Coordinate the establishment of a database of local farmers for efficient procurement operations.
  • Create and execute mechanisms for contracting with farmers as suppliers for the company.
  • Gain knowledge of the types of crops grown by local farmers and their respective harvest seasons.
  • Share marketing knowledge, information, and forecasts with the Line Manager to facilitate effective planning.
  • Coordinate the procurement of fruits and vegetables directly from farmers' associations, SMEs, agricultural companies, independent small and large farmers, and overseas suppliers.
  • Negotiate with suppliers (farmers) to secure advantageous terms for procurement.
  • Gather and maintain market information regarding the availability and cost of products.
  • Conduct research on crops for the upcoming season and collaborate with the sales team to forecast for the next season.
  • Collaborate closely with the Operations team and coordinate with them on any matters related to farmers.
  • Work closely with the sales team on any deals involving farmers.
  • Conduct site visits to farmers to optimize procurement opportunities.
  • Report directly to the reporting manager and provide daily purchase reports.
  • Administer farmer accounts in the company system, starting from contract or LPO creation to payment completion.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.
  • Carry out any other activities as and when required by the reporting managerز

Qualifications:

  • Education Level – Minimum – bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business administration, supply chain management or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 0 to 3 years of experience is required.

Competencies:

  • Proven experience in procurement, preferably in the agriculture sector.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with farmers and suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software.
  • Knowledge of local farming practices and agricultural markets.
  • Ability to work independently and team work.
