1. Job Purpose

The main purpose of this position is to design, implement and maintain the IT infrastructure for smooth operations within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs, and timelines.

Incumbent in this position is involved in design and implementation of the components required to support IT infrastructure and in the integration of corporate and business architectures and applications including all types of IT business architects as well as IT technical architects.

2. Main Tasks & Accountabilities

Main Roles & Responsibilities • Provide technology infrastructures for the organization  

• Evaluating user needs and system functionality and ensuring that IT facilities deliver on requirements  

• Provide technology infrastructures for the organization  

• Coordinate, administer and support activities related to data planning, data recovery and development and related projects. 

• Guaranteeing the smooth running of all systems. 

• Involved in the development, communication and implementation of the organization's technology architecture and applications plan  

• Designs, plans, and implements network architectures that are high performing, scalable, fault tolerant, and compliant. 

• Provide support and guidance for MDC Infrastructure environment. 

• Bring in the best practices for – cloud, virtualization, WAN optimization.

• Manage backup and recovery and cross data centers data replication.

• Provide architecture reviews and recommendations on a disaster recovery design to guarantee infrastructure can meet the business recovery objectives.

• Develop a backup and recovery process, test disaster recovery scenarios, and perform regular replication setup and administration.

• Organize, plan and schedule infrastructure change management meetings which include hardware changes, and operating system upgrades.

• Trouble shooting network issues using TCP/IP utilities.

• Utilize industry best practices, ITIL processes, lean thinking and total quality tools and concepts.

• Work with hardware and software vendors to develop specifications, contract review, installation management, and client follow-up satisfaction documentation.

• Configure and integrate TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, PPP, AppleTalk, and other LAN network protocols in a LAN/WAN environment.

• Mentor, coordinator and leadership roles in creation and execution of QA and testing processes, test strategies and plans.

• Key contact for difficult customers, mission critical database internet connection.

• Project manager in developing a standard to install new servers into MDC environment.

• Evaluate Cloud Computing opportunities, develop hybrid cloud architecture and successfully migrate workload in Cloud.

• Manage the team to coordinate project assignments, mentoring staff development in architecture understanding, and evaluating weekly status reports. Plan, design and implement total overhaul of Active Directory architecture. Review architecture of proposed solutions.

• Work with hardware and software vendors to develop specifications, contract review, installation management, and client follow-up satisfaction documentation. Organize, plan and schedule infrastructure change management which includes hardware changes, and operating system upgrades. Coordinate production and non-production environments software and hardware upgrades as per the MDC business continuity and high availability SLA's. Investigate problems and coordinate resolution with software vendors, hardware manufacturers as required.

• Interact with Project Management and Senior Management to ensure accurate and timely communication of project activities. Provide project management and engagement management.

• Analyse future IT projects, network requirements, and provide technical expertise and solutions. Lead on the ICT Infrastructures Team. Plan, design and implement complex IT projects from new deployments to upgrades. Manage IT personnel and IT projects.

4. Person Specification (Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience)

Education Level – Minimum Requirement • Bachelor’s degree in computer science / computer engineering / information technology.

Professional Qualifications

• IT/project management certification preferred

Work Experience • Overall experience of 8+ years with 3+ years in managing the IT infrastructure. Experience in dairy products will be preferred  

Job Specific Skills • Intimate knowledge of IT design and its components. 

• Capacity to create macro level IT plans and implement it on a micro level. 

• Established credentials in IT planning and ability to deal with operational challenges. 

• Project management experience preferred. 

• Financial awareness to understand and interpret numbers. 

• Excellent written & verbal communication / presentation skills. 

• Team player with excellent motivational skills.
