1.  Job Purpose

A Fleet Technician is responsible for the overall care, maintenance, and general operation of the company’s leased fleet of vehicles and equipment. Prepare vehicles and equipment for state inspections and preventative maintenance as required.

2.   Main Tasks & Accountabilities
Task    Description
Maintenance, diagnosis and repairs    •    Ensure effective and timely maintenance, servicing and repair of vehicles/equipment to minimise down time
•    Diagnose cause of any malfunction and inform the leasing company for repairs as per manufacturers’ specifications 
•    Perform monthly inspection on all vehicles and equipment
•    Maintain maintenance and repair records 
•    Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary
•    Maintain material and supply inventory 
•    Regularly review and update vehicle fleet related policies
Additional duties    •    Insure fleet availability with no breakdown 
•    Insure basic required spare parts availability and inventory control of the parts
•    Check and maintain cooling units of the trucks 
•    Check IVMS system and hardware 
•    Servicing the trucks and keep maintained and ready all the time for long distance driving 
•    Insure all HSE requirements fulfilled and as per MDC standard

Internal    CEO, Chiefs, Head of Departments.
External    Vendors, Suppliers, Media agencies etc.

4.   Person Specification  (Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience)  

4.1: Education Level –    Minimum Requirement    •    High school diploma or equivalent 
•    Technical training in Auto mechanics referred 
•    Basic computer skills
4.2: Professional    Qualifications
    •    ASE/DOT Certifications must 
•    Valid commercial driver’s license
4.3: Work Experience    •    3 years of fleet maintenance experience 
•    Experience of handling mechanical systems, electrical, hydraulics, and wiring
•    Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical maintenance, repairing, and servicing of heavy vehicles
5.4: Job Specific Skills    •    Knowledge of automotive parts, components, and systems
•    Knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment used in automotive repair, maintenance, and service
•    Ability to follow lubrication charts
•    Skilled in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on trucks and equipment 
•    Skilled in welding and cutting
