Job description

1.  JOB PURPOSE    
This position delivers sales fundamentals of distribution, merchandising, shelving, and pricing at the marketplace for the assigned territory outlets and access to remote locations, working towards achieving monthly volume & value sales targets. It involves defining and developing the van territory coverage plans per set and agreed daily journey. 
This position is responsible for promoting sales through regular visit to customer and retail merchandising outlets, ensuring adequacy of stock (availability) and visibility of company products. Additional responsibilities of managing sales for the mobile store (van) including operating a cash register, helping customers locate specific goods, answer queries or close sales transactions. Though this is an entry-level position, it plays a critical role in the product delivery process function to remote locations through the mobile store.


2.   MAIN TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Task    Description
Maintaining mobile store (van)    •    Reaching out to remote locations for delivering products to current and potential customers
•    Maintaining sufficient stock in the van to fulfil requirements of customers
•    Accountable for stocks in the van, including stock loss and damages
•    Responsible for conducting complete sales transactions directly with end users/consumers
•    Cash sales collection and on time submission
Supporting retail outlets    •    Ensuring availability of product(s) at all partner retail points
Ensure product quality    •    Segregate refrigerated and non- refrigerated products;
•    Maintain temperature for refrigerated products to prevent spoilage
Sales responsibilities    •    Implement company visibility plan 
•    Project good image of company among customers
•    Implement promotions/campaigns and help roll out new products
•    Establish excellent rapport with customers
•    Collect receivables/amounts due
Collecting and passing relevant information to management    •    Addressing customer issues and communicating information to sales supervisor in a timely manner
•    Report competitor activities in the market place
Product advertising and ethical guidelines    •    Review mechanism to ensure that all messaging/communication is vetted before it is released to the target audience
Teamwork    •    Effective communication within and outside the team (internal/external) 
•    Create a supportive environment for the team members
•    Contribute to the team, letting others know information that may be useful or important
•    Help to create a fun, supportive work environment.
Health and Safety    •    Understand and ensure meeting the obligations of health and safety requirements of employment legislation. 
•    Identify and contain/minimize product related health hazards reported by the consumer(s). 
•    Maintain an event register for supply and subsequent recall of all defective products.

People Management and Reporting Responsibilities    •    Work with sales supervisor, sales coordinator, merchandiser, shelf stacker, other internal and external stakeholders for efficient and effective execution of sales
•    Keep accurate and up to date, information on stock replenishments
•    Proper weekly forecast to eliminate market returns

4.   PERSON SPECIFICATION (Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience)

Education Level 
(Minimum Requirement)    •    High school degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification
•    Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Professional Qualifications
    •    Certificate in Sales Management.
Work Experience    •    0-3 years’ experience in a related position. Knowledge FMCG food product is a must and of dairy industry desirable.
