Job description

  • Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with international and local growers, exporters, and suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to secure advantageous procurement deals.
  • Ensure compliance with import regulations, certifications, and food safety standards.
  • Coordinate with inspection agencies for product quality checks.
  • Forecast demand, plan purchases, and ensure timely procurement to maintain steady supply.
  • Monitor market trends, crop seasons, and price fluctuations to optimize procurement decisions.
  • Mitigate supply chain risks related to disruptions, weather conditions, and currency fluctuations.
  • Gather, maintain, and analyze market information regarding availability and costs of products.
  • Assist in logistics, shipping, customs clearance, and ensure smooth inbound supply.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, shipments, supplier invoices, and inventory.
  • Prepare POs (Purchase Orders), supplier contracts, and payment processes.
  • Develop strategies to register and contract local farmers as suppliers.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive database of farmers for procurement operations.
  • Conduct site visits to farmers and optimize direct procurement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with farmers' associations, SMEs, agricultural companies, and independent farmers.
  • Work closely with sales, operations, warehouse, and distribution teams to align procurement activities.
  • Share marketing insights and forecasts with management to support effective planning.
  • Support the sales team in deals involving farmers.
  • Provide daily purchase reports and procurement performance reports to management.
  • Administer farmer accounts in the system from contract initiation to payment completion.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and promptly report any issues.
  • Carry out any other activities as and when required by the reporting manager.

Qualifications

  • Education Level – Minimum – bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business administration, supply chain management or equivalent.

Experience

  • 0 to 3 years of experience.

Competencies

  • Proven experience in procurement, preferably in the agriculture sector.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with farmers and suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software.
  • Knowledge of local farming practices and agricultural markets.
  • Ability to work independently and team work.
