Job description

1.  Job Purpose    
This position directly oversees the daily activities and workload of drivers. Daily tasks include supervising driver performance, allocating assignments, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining all vehicles in top working order. 
The role manages databases that detail transport activities, accounting for cost of transport and employee schedules. The incumbent is required to monitor transportation budget to ensure funds are properly utilized and implement organizational objectives as dictated by management. The role serves as a point of contact for employees, building relationships and addressing complaints related to transport


2.   Main Tasks & Accountabilities
Task    Description

Oversee Transport Operations    

•    Route assignments, balancing workloads and supervising driver performance.
•    Manage the inventories of vehicles, equipment, supplies, parts and materials effectively.
•    Ensure all established safety policies, legislation and regulations are administered and enforced in all areas.

Team Building – Hiring and mentoring  

 •    Collaborate with HR/subcontractors to add competent and reliable drivers to the team.
•    Ensure that all drivers understand and procure the licenses and permits required to legally carry passengers.
•    Monitor vehicle movement and drivers’ habits with the help of GPS trackers.

Transport Management  

 •    Keeps up-to-date records for inspections, maintenance, and repair of vehicles.
•    Checks all repair work, including physical inspections and road tests for completeness.
•    Manage vehicle allocation and planning up to one month in advance.

Plan transport routes daily  

 •    Keep employees informed about their transport routes and progress.
•    Implement the transportation plan according to the employee's needs, the legal requirements and local constraints.
•    Manage daily route and workload scheduling assignments for drivers.
•    Performs all other tasks and activities as assigned.

 •    Comply with all Company policies and procedures. 
•    Perform all the other tasks and activities as assigned.

 •    Responsible and be in alignment with the safety rules and procedures as per MAZOON QHSE Policy.
•    Ensure all relevant quality, health, security, safety, and environmental policies, procedures and controls are adhered to so that employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality service and a responsible environmental attitude can be guaranteed.
•    Ensure that incidents and hazards are reported in a timely manner and reduce consumption of natural resources to assist in protecting the environment and ensuring a healthy and safe work environment.

Internal     All Department Heads and Line Managers.
External    Stakeholders, customers, agencies etc.


4.   Person Specification  (Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience)  
Education Level –    Minimum Requirement    •    Bachelor’s degree in Logistics/ Fleet Management 
•    Knowledge of MS Office and fleet management systems.

 

Professional    Qualifications
 •    Certification in logistics/fleet management.
•    Valid commercial driver’s license.

Work Experience

 •    6 years of supervisory experience in a transport management role.
•    Experience in route planning and optimization of transport network.

Job Specific Skills

    •    Understanding of compliance and risk management, and automotive maintenance.

5.   Position Location  
•    To be based in Al Sunainah Office and travelling to all depots in Oman
