Job description

Job Purpose   

This position is responsible for managing a wide range of accounting functions, including cost accounting, expense control, fixed asset accounting, and general ledger operations. This role ensures compliance with financial standards, supports budgeting and forecasting, and provides management with accurate financial data for decision-making.

Main Tasks & Accountabilities

General Accounting

  • Record, review, and reconcile daily accounting transactions (AP, AR, GL).
  • Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring timely postings and reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Support preparation of statutory and management financial reports.

Cost Accounting

  • Prepare, maintain, and analyze product standard costs (farm, sales, and admin areas as applicable).
  • Monitor operating expenses against budget and prior years.
  • Track and report cost-reduction initiatives.

Fixed Assets & Inventory

  • Record and monitor additions, disposals, and transfers of fixed assets.
  • Ensure timely calculation of depreciation and compliance with IFRS.
  • Oversee inventory control processes, reconcile physical stocks to the general ledger, and ensure correct valuation.

Compliance

  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Comply with IFRS requirements with respect to accounting for fixed assets and inventory
  • Comply with Company Policies

Analysis & Projects

  • Perform variance analysis on costs, overheads, and operational performance.
  • Provide financial input for business cases, investment evaluations, and special projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.

People management and reporting responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and up to date, daily, weekly, monthly records as required by the management.

  • Help others in the team if needed; Support relief staff in their duties

 

Main Contacts and Working Relationships

  • Internal     All Department Heads and Line Managers.
  • External    Stakeholders, customers, agencies etc.

Person Specification  (Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience)  

Education Level –    Minimum Requirement  

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

Professional    Qualifications

  • Professional qualifications (CMA, CA, CPA) preferred.
  • have a valid driver’s license

Work Experience    

  • Overall accounting experience of 4 years or more working directly with the accounting manager in a similar role
  • Experience in FMCG/dairy products will be preferred
  • Strong understanding of the Middle East and African markets

Job Specific Skills    

  • Ability to see the big picture while focusing on the process and procedures necessary to produce deliverables is advantageous
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines
  • Through knowledge of GAAP, accounting standards and established rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of the financial systems and procedures required in a FMCG/manufacturing company
  • Expert knowledge of accounting packages like SAP, Oracle or equivalent
  • Proficient on Microsoft packages with advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Financial acumen to understand and interpret numbers
  • Excellent written & verbal communication / presentation skills
  • Team player with excellent motivational skills

Position Location  

To be based at Al Sunainah and travelling to all depots in Oman
