Compnay Overview :

It is a subsidiary of Oman Food Capital  Company, to develop Oman's fisheries industry at a national scale. It is developing a world-class sardine and tuna cannery project at the Duqm Special Economic Zone with an investment of approximately $110 million and a processing capacity of up to 88,000 tons per annum.The company progresses from project development into full operations, a robust finance and accounting function is critical to ensuring financial control, accurate reporting, and sustainable growth. The Financial Controller will be at the core of this function.

Role Overview:

The Financial Controller is a senior finance professional responsible for the day-to-day management of all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance activities at the company. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial information, supporting sound business decisions and effective governance.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, hands-on finance leader with strong technical accounting expertise and a track record of building and managing finance teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Financial Reporting & Accounting : 

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure proper classification of all financial transactions.
  • Prepare management accounts and variance analysis reports for the CFO and senior leadership.

Budgeting & Cost Control : 

  • Support the CFO in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and prepare detailed variance analyses with commentary.
  • Implement and maintain robust cost accounting systems appropriate for a manufacturing/cannery operation.
  • Track and report on capital expenditure versus approved budgets for the $110M cannery project.

Internal Controls & Compliance : 

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve internal control frameworks across all financial processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Omani accounting standards, tax laws, VAT regulations, and other statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, preparing all required schedules and documentation for the annual audit.
  • Ensure timely filing of all tax returns, VAT submissions, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Conduct periodic internal reviews to identify control gaps and implement corrective measures.

Treasury & Cash Management : 

  • Manage day-to-day cash flow, including monitoring bank balances and preparing weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Process and authorize payments in accordance with company delegation of authority.
  • Maintain banking relationships and oversee bank reconciliations across all accounts.
  • Support the CFO in managing working capital and optimizing the company's liquidity position.

Project & Inventory Accounting:

  • Oversee inventory valuation and management accounting for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods once operational.
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation across production lines and product categories.

Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of the company's ERP/accounting system.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all finance and accounting processes.
  • Drive automation and digitization of financial reporting and accounting workflows.

Team Management :

  • Recruit, supervise, and develop the accounting team including accountants and finance assistants.
  • Set clear performance objectives and provide regular coaching and feedback to team members.
  • Ensure adequate cross-training and succession planning within the finance team.

Education & Experience : 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • Professional qualification: CPA, ACCA, CMA, or CIMA (required).
  • Master's degree or MBA is an added advantage.

Experience : 

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in a Financial Controller or Senior Accounting Manager role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, food processing, FMCG, or industrial company is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of managing financial close processes, external audits, and statutory reporting.
  • Experience working with project accounting for large capital projects is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in Oman or the GCC region is highly desirable.

Technical Skills : 

  • Expert knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent).
  • Advanced Excel skills including financial modelling and pivot tables.
  • Solid understanding of Oman VAT, income tax, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment is a distinct advantage.
