Job description

 

1.  Job Purpose

Companies extend credit to potential clients in order to facilitate the sales of their products or services. Credit control involves monitoring client accounts and reminding them to pay outstanding invoices. It also ensures that companies only extend credit to clients who are able to pay back these debts in a timely manner

2.   Main Tasks & Accountabilities

Reviewing/Managing

  • Proactively managing debts from company debtors
  • Reviewing Daily Visit Reports from Debt Collectors
  • Ensuring timely payment of debts

CRM

  • Assessing new credit requests and reviewing customers’ credit ratings with banks
  • Setting up of terms and conditions of credit
  • Following up payments as needed
  • Negotiating repayment plans, and re-negotiating these if required
  • Resolving queries both internally and externally around payments and outstanding invoices

Reconciliation/Accounting

  • Processing payments and reconciliation of invoices
  • Checking and posting of receipts to accounting systems
  • Preparing statements, client status reports and other relevant information as required

Compliances 

  • Ensure all local environmental requirements are adhered to.
  • Knowledge of regional council compliance requirements


People management and reporting responsibilities    

  • Liaison with management and other line managers (as part of cross function team) for efficient running of the department.
  • Participate in management and supervisory meetings as and when required.
  • Ensure accurate and up to date, daily, weekly, monthly records as required by the management.
  • Ensure tasks are understood by the team members, and performed responsibly and diligently
  • Help others in the team if needed, Support relief staff in their duties.
  • The Job holder should perform all the other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Line Manager.

Quality, Health, Safety, Security & Environment    

•    Responsible and be in alignment with the safety rules and procedures as per MAZOON QHSE Policy.
•    Ensure all relevant quality, health, security, safety, and environmental policies, procedures and controls are adhered to so that employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality service and a responsible environmental attitude can be guaranteed.
•    Ensure that incidents and hazards are reported in a timely manner and reduce consumption of natural resources to assist in protecting the environment and ensuring a healthy and safe work environment.

Internal     All Department Heads and Line Managers.
External    Stakeholders, customers, agencies etc.

 

4.   Person Specification  (Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience)  
Education Level –    Minimum Requirement  

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration

Professional    Qualifications

  • Knowledge of payment plans and accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of office and accounting software

Work Experience    

  • Previous 3 years of working experience as a Credit Controller or Receivable Accountant
  • Strong understanding of the Middle East and African markets

Job Specific Skills    

  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with debt collection laws

5.   Position Location  

To be based in Muscat Office and travelling to all depots in Oman
